Northridge, Calif. — May 24, 2011 — Powerline Control Systems, Inc., the manufacturer of PulseWorx lighting control for residential and light commercial applications, and inventor of Universal Powerline Bus® (UPB) technology, has announced that it is now shipping Mi Lightstyle; an independent, cost-effective hardware/software package that allows system control by the most popular Internet-connected smartphones, tablets and computers.
“The demand for Mi LightStyle has been impressive. Installers realize that Mi LightStyle is a cost effective control option that is easy to use and flexible,” said Scott Klodowski, director of sales and marketing for PCS. “The Mi LightStyle unit and ‘apps’ offer the easy-to-use interface consumers want with connectivity from popular devices such as iPhones, iPads, Android, and more—allowing them to control or monitor their home from anywhere in the world—and can quickly integrate with our PulseWorx lighting controls.”
Unlike other home automation solutions, which take a significant amount of time, resources and programming to install, Mi LightStyle is a simple, yet immensely capable plug-and-play solution. Once installed, Mi LightStyle enables an end user to easily monitor, control and manage UPB-driven PulseWorx products, thermostats, irrigation items and IR-driven products from any device that can connect to the Internet. The installing integrator can create advanced times, triggers, email or text notifications and events based on status of the devices, time of day, even local weather conditions, delivering an interface that has remarkable breadth while being easy to operate.
Mi LightStyle features simplified drag-and-drop configuration in Mi LightStyle’s Web interface, allowing easy adjustments to the attributes of every device and/or scene in the system. System configuration can create complex schedules and triggers based on any combination of events or preferences, and is able to receive instant notification of any system changes via email or text message. Additionally, Mi LightStyle can automatically notify the integrator or end-user when a firmware update is available.
The Mi LightStyle package includes free REST, Web Services and Java SDK libraries for easy integration with third-party hardware and software. It also provides integrators with the ability to develop their own platforms based on their or their clients’ preferences.
With the additional array of add-on modules for Mi LightStyle, integrators can work within a customer’s budget and offer what is needed for their system. These add-ons allow end-users to:
- Control a system with either iPhone, iPad, Android or Windows Media Center
- Control network-enabled devices through programs (TCP/UDP/HTTP/HTTPS), Host their own personal website or third party applications right on Mi LightStyle, or turn on PCs using Wake On LAN
- Monitor a home or building’s real-time electricity use with Brultech meters
- Utilize local WeatherBug information
Integrators and end-users alike can utilize Mi LightStyle with the confidence thanks to PCS’ five-year parts and labor warranty.
The Mi LightStyle iPhone/iPad app can be found at the Apple Store and the Android Marketplace.
