KEF, the renowned manufacturer of innovative, reference-quality loudspeakers, today introduced 10 new models of high performance in-ceiling loudspeakers to its Custom Installation (Ci) line.
Built upon the foundation set with the recent KEF QR and CR round speakers launched last year, the new Ci models feature four new rectangle and six new square loudspeakers to give custom installation professionals a complete array of loudspeakers perfect for any application. Additionally, one of the new models, the square Ci100QS, is designed to complement’s KEF’s Ci Soundlight models which deliver exceptional audio performance in the form of a loudspeaker that matches today’s small Halogen lighting.
Each of the new models of KEF Ci speakers feature KEF’s magnetically-attached Ultra Thin Bezel (UTB), allowing the loudspeakers to seamlessly blend in with any surrounding décor. Additionally, KEF proprietary grille treatments ensure the loudspeakers will stand up to humid and moist areas including bathrooms, boats or near the ocean.
All KEF Ci in-ceiling speakers feature KEF’s tangerine waveguide which provides a greater level of dispersion and driver protection. The series’ forward mounted woofer eliminates diffraction and ensures superior sound performance regardless of placement.
For enhanced sound quality, select models of the new Ci loudspeakers feature KEF’s patented Uni-Q driver array, which places the tweeter in the acoustic center of the woofer. This allows both the woofer and tweeter to act as a single, focused source of sound that is dispersed widely and evenly throughout a room or setting—a feature not found on any other in-ceiling loudspeaker.
“We are excited about the continued investment and development with our Ci products,” said David Kroll, Ci product manager for KEF. “The acoustic performance of these models has surpassed our every expectation. The very attractive UTB thin bezel’s modern look is in high demand with architects and designers. Additionally, our Uni-Q driver is ideally suited for the square shape and the consumer benefits from the placement-friendly, wide off-axis response and small visible footprint.”
KEF’s new Ci models include:

For 50 years, KEF has created technology that delivers the best listening experience for people who are passionate about natural sound. Founded on October 2, 1961 by Raymond Cooke O.B.E., KEF continues to maintain its flair for unusual and controversial speaker engineering, design and material use. KEF flourished during the 1960s, and in 1970 received the first of two Queen’s Awards for Export Achievement. Ten years of worldwide growth followed, solidifying KEF’s reputation as one of the international leaders in speaker engineering. The Gold Peak Group acquired KEF in 1992, backing KEF’s British heritage with new ideas, a new personality and new products, leveraging its deep R&D and global manufacturing capabilities, and building on the company’s core strengths in acoustics, design, distribution and quality. With the celebration of its 50th anniversary, KEF will continue to build on its strong heritage to define listening experiences for the next 50 years and beyond. www.kef.com
